Our Founder: Gavin King

KOT Building Contractors was founded by Gavin King, a skilled carpenter with a vision for excellence. Starting his career in the construction industry, Gavin honed his craft and gained invaluable experience before deciding to embark on his entrepreneurial journey. In 2015, he left his previous company to establish The King of Trades Ltd, laying the foundation for what would become a trusted name in the construction sector.

From Carpentry to Comprehensive Construction

Initially, The King of Trades focused on small local carpentry projects, catering to the immediate needs of our community. However, Gavin’s ambition and commitment to quality quickly propelled the company into undertaking turnkey construction projects. We expanded our services to include kitchen and home refurbishments, as well as shopfitting for small local businesses, allowing us to serve a broader clientele with diverse requirements.

Expanding Horizons

Nearly a decade on, KOT Building Contractors has successfully managed projects across Cornwall, London, Kent, Bristol, and the entire South West of England. Our portfolio showcases a variety of projects, each reflecting our ability to adapt and excel in different environments. Notable projects include:

  • Soft Play Cafe Fit-Out: Creating a vibrant and safe environment for children and families.

  • Veterinary Practice Fit-Outs: Designing efficient and welcoming spaces for veterinary services.

  • Equine Stable Conversion in Kent: Our most prestigious project, involving the complete transformation of an existing stable block into a fully functional equine CT suite. This groundbreaking project featured the first equine CT scanner of its kind in Europe at the time, showcasing our capability to handle innovative and specialized construction requirements.
