Equine CT unit, Maidstone, Delivering the UK’s First Equine CT Scanner Facility

At KOT Building Contractors, we are proud to have been the main contractor for the groundbreaking Equine CT unit project, which marks a significant milestone in equine veterinary care. We are lead the complete conversion of an existing stable block into a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the UK’s first equine CT scanner.

Comprehensive Construction and Conversion Expertise

Stable Strip-Out and Floor Excavation: We meticulously stripped out the existing stables and excavated the floors to prepare the site for advanced installations.
Reinforced Concrete Pit & Steel Lifting Frame Installation: We installed a Tanked reinforced concrete pit and a custom-designed steel lifting frame, providing the necessary foundation and support for the high-tech equipment being introduced.
Hydraulic Platform Integration: The newly installed hydraulic platform has been designed to seamlessly work with the CT scanner, ensuring safe and efficient operation.

Advanced M&E Fit-Out

As part of our comprehensive service, we were also responsible for the full mechanical and electrical (M&E) fit-out, which includes:

Fire Alarm Installation: A state-of-the-art fire alarm system installed to ensure the safety of both staff and animals
Power and Lighting Systems: We implemented advanced power and lighting solutions to support the high-tech equipment and ensure a well-lit, functional environment, including facilitating a mains power upgrade to the site.
Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation: To maintain a controlled environment, we installed a cutting-edge air conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems, vital for the comfort and safety of the animals and the operation of the equipment.

Enhancing Safety and Comfort

Beyond the core construction and M&E fit-out, we also focused on features that enhance the overall safety and comfort of the facility:

Blockwork Partition Walls & Radiation-Rated Doors: We constructed new blockwork partition walls and installed radiation-rated doors to create secure, specialised areas within the facility.
Padded Knockdown Room: Our team built a padded knockdown room, essential for safely managing horses during sedation procedures.
Rubber Flooring & External Stable Doors: We are fitted durable rubber flooring and new external stable doors to improve accessibility and comfort throughout the facility.
